The kind of pressure our African set-up mounts on women who are still single when their so-called biological clock tick past their time is overbearing.

This is why we have made this list to capture Nigerian celebs who are yet to marry again after severing their previous marriage owing to various reasons. Fans and family members keep asking why they are yet to renter the oldest institution in the world, forgetting that marriage is simply a choice and not obligatory like the primitive African mindset prescribes.

Below are just five Nollywood actresses who are yet to marry again after their divorce from previous marriage.

1. Ini Edo

The beautiful actress and one of my favourite on-screen CRUSH is yet to remarry since she divorced her American-based Nigerian businessman ex-husband, Philip Ehiagwina in 2008 over domestic violence and other ‘pressing’ issues. She has since remained single with no link to any person ever since.

2.   Mercy Aigbe

Mercy claimed the beatings and torture she subjected to by her former husband Lanre Gentry made her jumped out of the marriage. She exchanged words with Lanre on social media on numerous occasions and it got messier each day as they all tried to explain their version of what actually happened. Mercy is yet to start a new romance.

3. Chika Ike

Chika Ike was formerly married to Tony Eberiri. Their marriage lasted from 2006 to 2013. The beautiful actress reportedly said she voluntarily “walked” out of her marriage after she was abused on countless occasions by her ex-husband.

4. Uche Elendu

Uche was wedded to Mr. Igweanyinba in 2012 with whom she has the two girls before the pair separated due to irreconcilable differences. Explaining what led to the collapse of the marriage, Uche Elendu said:

“I am definitely willing to give marriage another shot. From my first marriage, I learned not to be in a hurry to do anything. Don’t be in a haste to jump into marriage; you should really take your time to make sure that you’re with the right person and you’re both compatible. I got married to a very wonderful man but I guess we were not compatible.
“Don’t just get married because everybody else is doing that, or based on a person’s good looks and money. Marriage is not friendship or courtship; it is a serious business.”
